This five day, forty hour family mediation skills training program is for professionals who want to add family mediation to their skill set. This training provides a family mediation structure, and emphasizes mediator tools and strategies for effective communication and resolution. Katherine Nevins, PhD, Susan Mainzer, JD and Aimee Gourlay, JD provide participants with a positive approach to solving legal issues related to divorce and post-decree matters that not only reduces tension in the family, but also leads to innovative solutions. 40-Hour training includes a mixture of media presentations, demonstrations of family mediation sessions, skills practice, hands-on exercises, role-plays and real life examples. 40-Hour training also includes the psycho-dynamics of divorce, family law, ethical concerns in family mediation and six hours of domestics violence training. Experienced mediators will give guidance and feedback to mediation participants during and after role-play mediation sessions.
